Get Your Daily Dose of Caffeine this National Coffee Day in Baltimore

September 23, 2021

Looking for an excuse to get an extra cup (or two) of coffee for your morning routine? Well, mark your calendar for September 29th, National Coffee Day, and start thinking about what kind of cup you’re going to treat yourself to. An espresso? Latte? Black Coffee? The choice is yours!

Before you take this day to celebrate your love of coffee, take some time to consider the history of how this delicious, warm drink has ended up in your hand.

Coffee appears to date back to the 15th century, with Sufi monasteries in Yemen roasting the beans and brewing coffee. Traders began bringing coffee back to their homelands and soon, coffee spread from the Middle East in Europe, Indonesia, and the Americas.

For Americans, National Coffee Day is often just another day of drinking the beverage. On an average day, Americans collectively drink around 400 million cups of coffee!

Whether you’re a regular or occasional coffee-drinker, take advantage of National Coffee Day by exploring the best coffee that Baltimore has to offer!

Find the Perfect Cup Close to Home

Ceremony Coffee Roasters

Roll out of 1305 Dock Street and head over to our fellow Harbor Point neighbors, Ceremony Coffee. Only about a minute walk from your apartment, this is the perfect coffee shop for you to start frequenting. With gorgeous views of the Baltimore harbor and a newly added menu of draft beer, wine, and small batch cocktails in addition to coffee, you’ll never want to leave.

Aveley Farms Coffee Roasters

If you’re looking for a high quality, sustainable cup of coffee just steps from your door, check out Aveley Farms Coffee Roasters in Harbor East. The story of this coffee shop begins with a coffee-lover who drank a cup of coffee directly sourced from Guatemala. That singular cup of coffee inspired this shop, where you can get a cup brewed right in front of you, or buy some of their grounds and learn how to make a cup just like it.

Daily Grind

Also within walking distance, you can find Daily Grind. Daily Grint is located in Fells Point. Appreciate the quirky charm of Fells Point by checking out this local favorite coffee shop. Make sure to get your coffee with one of their mouth-watering pastries, bagels, sandwiches, soups, or desserts!

Vagrant Coffee

Vagrant Coffee is the perfect stop for you if you find yourself on the move on National Coffee Day. With several locations in Baltimore, you’ll have opportunities to try their delicious menu wherever you are. Besides the normal menu of hot and cold drinks, they also have signature drinks that are worth trying like their “Honey Habanero Latte” and “Golden Milk.”

Order & Chaos

Make the trek over to Order & Chaos, a funky coffee shop located in Federal Hill. Try their classic “Drip Coffee” or go out on a limb and order something more unique, like the “Pecan Pie Latte” or the “Golden Milk Turmeric Latte.”

Vent Coffee Roasters

If you’re looking to venture out and try some coffee farther away from home, drive over to Vent Coffee Roasters in Hampden. Vent has some of the most interesting coffee on the market. Their menu of seasonal drinks — which includes “Le Mazagran,” “Portuguese Iced Coffee,” and coffee-flavored cream soda — will definitely send your taste buds on a trip!

Drink whichever and however much coffee you want guilt-free on National Coffee Day, no one can judge you on this holiday! We hope that you enjoy every last sip. If you decide to memorialize your coffee in a photo, tag us @1305dockstreet on Instagram.
