For a place with a fancy name like Le Comptoir du Vin, this newly opened restaurant has an incredibly homey, relaxed feel. The dining room is as cozy as a home kitchen, from the mantle with hand-written menu to the limited number of seats available. But that’s not to say that the food and drink is any less exquisite than the name.
Look for classic French cuisine prepared using tried and true cooking methods, like duck ragu over pappardelle pasta or roasted chicken with gold potatoes. The food is simple and familiar, while still being elevated by the freshest ingredients available. Le Comptoir du Vin also has an incredible wine offering that, though small, perfectly complements their rustic menu. You’ll leave feeling like you had a high-end French meal, but without all the pomp and circumstance.
Find Le Comptoir du Vin on Maryland Avenue in Baltimore. The restaurant is open Tuesday through Saturday for dinner service only. Be sure to make a reservation due to the limited dining space, but bar space is held nightly for walk-in diners.
